Testimonials

“We spent several days with Nick in the Banff area in August. It was a fabulous experience. Nick was so patient and knowledgeable, not only about photography but the geography and history of the area as well. We were grateful for his preparedness and his willingness to slow his hiking pace to match two 50-something women. He was always pointing out interesting compositions and was full of helpful tips which was particularly gratifying as I am fairly new to photography.Overall, it was an amazing trip and I would not hesitate to book another one with Nick. I highly recommend his photo tours!”

“Nick led us on a fantastic photographic tour of the Lake Ohara area last weekend. I learned a great deal and was impressed with Nick’s photographic skill, his ability to teach and mentor, while sharing his love and knowledge of the backcountry with us. I look forward to another excursion with him.”

Nick was a fabulous guide of the Lake O’Hara area! Extremely knowledgeable regarding the surrounding mountains, trail system, back country etiquette and keeping the group safe. I am a green horn photographer and Nick adapted the course for all levels of photography and made it easy and simple to get great shots. He even ordered terrific weather for our 3 day course. I highly recommend experiencing a mountain photography workshop with Nick Fitzhardinge. Thanks again for a great time!

Nick is the man.
I’ve had the priviledge to shoot with Nick and learn from him on a few occasions and I was stoked recently to join one of his workshops at Lake O’Hara. He knows the area well, and was extra prepared in case any of us weren’t, packing extra jackets, water tablets and even hot chocolate. Nick is a good guide but even more so, a good dude.

“I recently attended a photography workshop of Nick Fitzhardinge’s. It was a wonderful experience and I must credit the truly extraordinary landscape of the area and Nick’s skills as a photographer and guide for its success. Nick’s understanding of photography is exemplary and he was able to spot gaps in my knowledge of which I was not even aware. His recommendations were always presented respectfully and I came away from the workshop with a much better understanding of landscape photography than I had brought to it. Nick’s knowledge of the area and it’s photographic potential is exemplary as well. He knows the most attractive viewpoints and the best possible times for visiting them. I am extremely pleased with the photographs that I took and I know that they would not have been possible without his guidance. Nick’s love of photography and the mountains is apparent, as is his joy in being able to share that love with others. I would not hesitate to recommend one of Nick Fitzhardinge’s photographic workshops to anyone “

Just got home from a great photo adventure with Nick. There are three ways that Nick made this trip really fun for me. First, he has spent hundreds? of days hiking and reaching summits in the Canadian Rockies so I felt confident being out with him in the backcountry at all hours of the day and night. Second, as a photographer, Nick did a wonderful job to have us in beautiful locations (e.g. in front of reflective lakes, etc.) during incredible late evening or morning light. Third, he gave great photographic advice from helping me learn more about my camera menu to suggestions for in-the-field compositions, to editing 2-3 of his photos for us during our downtime. The trip paid for itself by the end of day 1, and I’m already on the list to join Nick again next summer.”

“Spending a few days with Nick in the Banff area were days well spent! We loved Nick’s patience and knowledge, never once making us feel inadequate, whether it was with our cameras or our physical ability to go places. His gentle reminders about technical use of our gear, and pointing out amazing compositions were all appreciated. Nick is not just knowledgeable about photography, but we also learned so much about the area, the geography and history. Within hours of meeting Nick, I felt safe, as if my own son was taking me on a vacation. I would not hesitate to book another tour with Nick and take my love of photography and the outdoors even further.”

I had the pleasure of spending a long weekend with Nick in the beautiful Lake O Hara region of BC last September. Nick had organized the logistics, booking the EP Hut (a challenge in itself) and kept in constant contact until the trip. There are a couple of things about Nick that stood out and which mean I would absolutely recommend his services: he communicates well – is clear and concise leaving no worries about details. He’s organized – researching the gear that each participant used so that he could provide the best assistance during the workshop. Being a local, he’s extremely knowledgeable about the locations we visited, about the wildlife, the flora and fauna, the mountains, the weather forecast and of course, the technical aspects of photography. He’s accessible – helping out with any questions, even after the workshop. And of course, he’s an amazingly talented landscape photographer – you’re learning from one the best. I highly, highly recommend his services, supporting a local hardworking photog – you will not be disappointed..”

“Nick is talented photographer, engaged teacher, and he knows the Banff area like the back of his hand. He took us to several unique and special places off the beaten path that we would never have found without him. His knowledge of photography is strong, combining technical expertise with a thorough understanding of landscape composition. He’s also really easy to hang out with and a great coach. I learned a number of things I did not know on this trip, despite being an “advanced amateur” who’s been shooting with DSLR cameras for years.”
